In this article I will give you a quick review of the most acknowledged pike lures when it comes to pike crankbaits or pike wobblers as some will call them.

The Zalt Wobbler

The Zalt wobbler came on the market in the early 90`s with its modern design. The wobbler are from Sweden and has had a big success. The Zalt is a very vital wobbler which is a killer with pike angling. The Zalt wobbler is acting at it`s best when using least 8 inches wire trace in front end since it`s movement are designed to the weight of the wire trace. The wobbler can be purchased in many colors and sizes. As with most wobblers one can tie sinkers approx 24 - 36 inches in front of the wobbler, then one can fish slowly on 30 - 60 feet depth.

Rapala

In 1936, the Rapala wobbler saw the daylight for the first time when Lauri Rapala built his first hand made wobbler.Since then Rapala has been the largest producer on the market with wobblers, and not without reason.nowadays, we find several hundred dissimilar Rapala wobblers to different fisheries. Most people acknowledge about Read Head as the biggest pike wobbler ever. The only minus with Rapala,is that most of them are so light that it`s hard to cast, but there are sinking and slow sink which is heavier and more easy thrown. These can also be sink as with the Zalt Wobbler and if one use fireline i.e. one can go less with the thickness which as well will give longer casting.

Bomber

Since 1930`s bombers has been heading the market in USA.They have also awaken Scandinavian sportsfishermen`s interest. In Sweden, the sea-trout record has been taken with a bomber and many of the biggest trolling, salmon and trout fishers in the Nordic has it as their favourite. But bomber is not only brilliance to salmon and trout, but also to pike.Bomber can be purchased in all thinkable variants and colors.

HI-LO

A standard wobbler from ABU.There is almost no wobbler which is more associated to pike fishing as this HI-LO wobbler.I can recall that in all books that I read to find out about pike fishing when I was smaller, this wobbler was displayed. The genius about this pike fishing lure is the changeable spoon and it can therefore be applied in different depths, yes it can even be adjusted to top-water.This makes the wobbler very functional.I have had biggest success with the red and white and with one with intense colors in orange/yellow/green.It may happen this is most beneficial in "my" water,so try out things. It is in many colors and sizes. It is as well possible to find a jointed type.

Swim Whizz

Very good pike wobbler which I have taken several big pikes with. This wobbler is comparatively light vs size and it`s therefore not well suitable for throwing, but suits well for pike trolling. There is two spots to tie the line. This makes one can fish in unlike depths.I have one in shining yellow which fish good. The wobbler are made in USA where many American sport fishers has it as their favourite. The pike wobbler is relatively big,but is in at least two sizes. It is also obtainable in a jointed type which can be very efficient if the fishery are a bit slow.

Terminator

A new wobbler from ABU with a very natural holographic appearing. It has been very popular amongst trolling fishermen in Sweden, but the sinking type is also very good when casting. This wobbler is not designed especially for pike fishing, but it works extremely good.Similar to the Zalt wobbler, this acts a bit calmer in the water as conventional wobblers, something that in some events sees to be the right thing. This wobbler can also be found in dissimilar colors and sizes and you can select between floating and sinking types.

This was a quick introduction of pike lures in this category.Fishing lures freshwater for pike includes a lot more pike fishing lures and if searching this site you will find more info about those.
